UPDATE* This plane is not suited for water. It will not take off of it and we ruined 3 Speed controllers and motors tryingit over several weeks. But for general flying and no water. It flies nicely. Since there is a nice pond here in Sibley, I was excited to order a couple of A-5 seaplanes and try them out with Jeff. I think it is wise (for me anyway) to test fly seaplanes over land first. I am glad I did. The planes have plenty of power, but need balanced first or will easily tip stall flying slow. Also it is very important that you know how to use rudder! Pushers don’t turn with ailerons very well, because the air is not being blown across them from the motor. I added 3.2 ounces of clay to the nose to balance it, as it was tail heavy on my first flight. The plane is made from EPO foam and is really strong. The plywood parts are not as strong, so beef them up. We had trouble with range with the FM crystals below 5 degrees so switched to 2.4ghz receivers, due to no temp sensitive crystals. Does your RC helicopter spin out of control in the air or uncontrollably on the ground, are the batteries charged and it still doesn’t work? Is the trim set all the way and it still doesn’t work, don’t worry, it’s not as big of a deal as you may think, and you can fix it quicker and cheaper than you ever imagined. I tried to fly my syma s008 Sunday morning and it didn’t want to fly. It did the same thing a number of my viewers have asked about. It spun on the ground and wouldn’t get more than a few inches in the air. The problem isn’t the batteries in the transmitter or the helicopter, and it isn’t a bad motor. This is a cheap simple solution that works on almost all 2 and 3 channel helicopters. The key is to spin the rotor in your hand and try to see if it gives any resistance.
